Angers – Olympique Lyonnais: must-win night at Stade Raymond Kopa
Angers SCO (12th) take on Olympique Lyonnais (4th) in a big league clash, with both sides desperate to shake off a rotten run.
Olympique Lyonnais are chasing a reset
It’s a grim picture in Lyon. After a winter surge built on 13 straight wins, the machine has suddenly started coughing and spluttering. Booted out of the cup competitions without much of a whimper and unable to win for eight matches, Paulo Fonseca’s side even took a nasty 2-1 hit at Monaco just before the international break.
If they don’t want to blow their top-four push, Lyon have to tighten up and stop leaking goals away from home. Only 5 wins in 14 trips tells its own story. The job is plain enough for the visitors: find their cutting edge again and start putting teams away like they were doing just a few weeks ago.
Angers badly short of spark
It’s no picnic in Anjou either. Angers may still have a decent cushion over the drop zone, with 10 points in hand, but the results have gone sour fast. Five defeats in their last six league games is a brutal read. Smashed 5-1 at Lens, the home side are also struggling badly in the final third, drawing a blank in four of their last six outings.
They know Lyon are a level above them — the visitors have won their last 6 meetings — and Alexandre Dujeux’s men will probably have to sit deep and suffer for long spells. If they’re going to pinch anything here, they’ll need to dig in, keep their shape, and hope for one clean break the other way.
Probable line-ups
Angers : Koffi ; Louer, Camara, Lefort ; Raolisoa, Belkhdim, Belkebla, van den Boomen, Hanin ; Sbai, Koyalipou
Olympique Lyonnais : Greif ; Hateboer, Mata, Niakhate, Abner Vinicius ; Morton, Tolisso ; Endrick, Merah, Nartey ; Sulc
Football prediction Angers vs Lyon
Olympique Lyonnais to win
Even if Angers SCO and Olympique Lyonnais are both stumbling around in rough water, the gap in quality should tell on the turf at Stade Raymond Kopa.
Lyon have the squad to go deep into the race at the top, and they’ve got the psychological edge here as well. Angers are labouring up front and haven’t been finding the net lately, which leaves the Gones with the perfect chance to get back on track. The visitors should be able to control the tempo, shut the door at the back and let their individual quality do the damage.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the whole script changes.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
- The smart move is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And above all, don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it’s taking over your day-to-day life, if it’s getting on your nerves or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if you need to, speak to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, it’s on you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists, and it won’t magically disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can go bad fast (money lost, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions aren’t a contract. They have no legal force. Plain and simple: you can’t use them to demand anything if a bet goes wrong.
Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know when it’s written. But then a team sheet changes, a player gets hurt, the weather turns nasty… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your job
Before you bet, just make sure wagering is legal where you are. If it isn’t, that’s your problem, not ours.
Responsible gambling first
We can’t say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you’re struggling to stay in control, don’t wait to get help. We can’t be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.
Legal age
