Werder Bremen – RB Leipzig : a crunch showdown at the bottom end of the table at the Weserstadion
Bremen’s Weserstadion hosts more Bundesliga action this Saturday. Werder take on RB Leipzig. The table pits 14th against 4th. The home side are trying to make survival official. The visitors are chasing a direct ticket to the Champions League. The points at stake hang heavy over the final stretch for both clubs.
Daniel Thioune’s side have turned it around in style
The new boss started with three straight defeats in February. Since then, the team have won three of their last four competitive games. The latest scalp, a 1-0 win over Wolfsburg, gave the club some breathing room. Their cushion over the relegation playoff spot is now four points. But the home record is a real worry for the staff. The numbers show just one win in their last eight at home.
Ole Werner’s men are still in the European hunt
RB Leipzig sit fourth with 50 points. They’re level on points with Hoffenheim. Their emphatic 5-0 win over that direct rival turned heads. They’ve picked up nine points from a possible 12 in the last month. Trips away from Leipzig have often gone badly this season, though. They’ve managed only three away wins since the end of October.
Expected line-ups
Werder Bremen : Backhaus ; Sugawara, Friedl, Coulibaly, Deman ; Lynen, Puertas ; Grull, Stage, Schmid ; Njinmah
RB Leipzig : Gulacsi ; Baku, Orban, Lukeba, Raum ; Schlager, Seiwald, Baumgartner ; Diomande, Romulo, Nusa
Football prediction Werder Bremen vs RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig to win
The need to lock down a Champions League spot will have the visitors on the front foot from the first whistle. Leipzig’s attack should keep Werner’s side pinned back and expose Werder’s long-standing weakness at home.
The home defence looks set to buckle under the pace and power of Leipzig’s transition game. Bremen’s decent recent run won’t make up for the physical gap against a side of this level.
Leipzig are stronger all over the pitch, and they’ve got more firepower. That should be enough to nick the three points on the road.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks like a dead cert, it isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. At some point, that’s unavoidable.
- The sensible move is to keep a lid on it. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And above all, don’t chase losses. It rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a way to make money. If it starts taking up too much space in your life, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if you need to, speak to a specialist support group. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and never goes away, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, leading to money problems, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain English: you can’t use them to demand anything if a bet goes wrong.
Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know when we write it. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns bad… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you bet, make sure gambling is legal where you are. If it isn’t, that’s on you, not us.
