They’re back in the playoffs
The Spurs are in. San Antonio battered the Grizzlies in Memphis and that win mathematically secures home-court for the opening round. The Spurs sit at 55 wins and 18 losses with nine regular-season games left. Mitch Johnson’s side have built a gap you can’t claw back — ten games clear of fifth place. The Minnesota Timberwolves currently hold that slot at 45-28.
A seven-year wait
San Antonio’s last trip to the postseason was in 2019, when they fell in the first round to Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets in a decisive Game 7 at the AT&T Center. The Frost Bank Center will host these new playoff games. Victor Wembanyama expects the crowd to roar — he’s backed a new supporters’ group called the Jackals and thinks the Baseline Bums, plus traveling French fans, will make it a hostile place for opponents. The club has set general ticket sales to open on the morning of April 2 on its official site.
Top spot still in sight
They’re not done. San Antonio can still grab home-court for the entire Western Conference playoffs — they’re two wins shy of the top. Oklahoma City sit at 57-16 and, notably, just lost to the Boston Celtics. The Spurs’ remaining schedule looks friendly on paper. Stephon Castle says the locker room’s riding a wave right now; he believes the team has played its best basketball for three months, built on tight chemistry and real belief.
