Miami Masters 1000: Daniil Medvedev stunned by Cerundolo, Sinner cruises

Shock exit for Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev crashed out of Miami early. Francisco Cerundolo dumped the Russian on Monday in the third round. The Argentinian won in three sets (6-0, 4-6, 7-5). World No.10 threw away the start — he surrendered the opening set 6-0 in just 21 minutes. The recent Indian Wells finalist fought back and the match swung late in the third. Medvedev had a chance to level while serving at 5-6. He folded — two sloppy forehand errors and a double fault handed the match over after 2h17. The 27-year-old South American is playing well in Florida. He now meets Ugo Humbert in the round of 16.Bouton PenseBet

Sinner in control

The men’s draw has been shredded — seeds falling left and right. Carlos Alcaraz, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Alex De Minaur are already out. Jannik Sinner avoided the trap and did it with authority. The Italian beat Corentin Moutet in straight sets (6-1, 6-4). The match lasted 1h12. The Frenchman never threatened the Indian Wells champion. Moutet’s serve was a wreck — just 33% success on his first delivery. After a one-sided first set, Sinner nicked the decisive break at 2-2 in the second. The former world No.1 is ticking along through this Miami Masters 1000. He now faces American Alex Michelsen, currently No.40, for a shot at the quarter-finals.
