Philadelphia 76ers: erase the humiliation 
Panic mode for the 76ers. Clinging to sixth in the East by a thread, the 76ers (33-28) need a different look. Last night’s game against San Antonio will go down as one of their worst. Blown out at home, 91-131, down 25 at the half — they collapsed. Terrible shooting (35% from the floor and a brutal 10/42 from three) finished them off.
Tyrese Maxey tried to keep things together — 21 points and 8 rebounds — and Jabari Walker offered 20 off the bench, but the rest of the starters were dreadful. The other starters combined for just 10 points on 4/25 shooting. Joel Embiid’s extended absence at center messes up their schemes, though their offense (12th in the league at 116.4 points per game) shows they can score. The back-to-back fatigue will be a factor.
Utah Jazz: defense in freefall 
The skid keeps going for the Salt Lake City outfit. Six straight losses and the second-worst record in the conference (18-43). Their last game — a 125-128 defeat to Denver — summed up the problems. Offense showed up, even hit 15 threes, but they can’t protect the rim. Letting the opponent shoot 54% overall is plain defensive indiscipline.
There are bright spots individually. Keyonte George carried them with 36 points on 14/22 shooting. Kyle Filipowski added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, and rookie Ace Bailey scored 18. The raw talent is there. Yet with the worst defensive rating in the league, that firepower gets neutralized by a defense that leaks everywhere.

Philly’s rout last night demands a response in front of the home crowd. Even without their floor-eating center, the 76ers face one of the league’s worst defensive teams. The Jazz give up far too many easy chances, which should let the home shooters find their range fast. Expect an all-out scoring night. We see the 76ers winning a high-scoring game, roughly 127-116.
