Crystal Palace – Burnley: Selhurst Park hunting a lasting spark Premier League - Wikipedia

Relieved after a long dry spell, Crystal Palace return to Selhurst Park on Wednesday with one simple plan: keep the run going. The Eagles took a priceless win over Brighton and now want back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since December. Burnley, in deep trouble, look like the ideal scalp… on paper anyway.

Crystal Palace: a fresh spark to prove at home Crystal Palace

Selhurst finally breathed on Sunday. That tight but vital 1-0 win over Brighton ended a nine-game winless run in the league. Relief at last — and manager Oliver Glasner didn’t hide it.

The Austrian made a point of thanking the London fans, who stuck by the team through a rough two months. Rare patience, rewarded by three wins in Palace’s last four matches — all on the road against Wolverhampton, Burnley and Fulham.

One black mark remains: Selhurst Park isn’t the fortress it used to be. Since beating Brentford in early November, Palace have gone seven home league games without a win — four defeats, three draws. That’s the blot they want wiped out on matchday 26.

The numbers give cause for optimism. Palace have won the last three meetings with Burnley without conceding. They’ve also avoided defeat in 11 of their last 12 midweek Premier League games, and haven’t lost in nine years against teams who started the match in the relegation zone.

Sitting 13th, Palace are also eyeing a fifth straight season without a defeat to the Clarets — who currently hover at the wrong end of the table.

Burnley: time’s running out Burnley F.C. - Wikipedia

Things are far darker at Burnley. Beaten 2-0 at home by West Ham last weekend, Scott Parker’s side suffered their 16th defeat of the Premier League campaign. Only Wolves have a worse record.

That loss leaves the Clarets eight points behind West Ham and a whopping eleven adrift of the first safe spot. It’s turning into a mountain, especially after hope fizzled out.

Burnley had shown signs with three draws on the trot against Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. Then the bottom fell out — two straight defeats, 3-0 at Sunderland and 2-0 to West Ham, and not a goal to show for it.

Away form is dire. Just five of their 15 points came on the road this season — only Wolves have fewer. Defensively they’re porous too: 30 goals conceded away from Turf Moor and the worst away goal difference in the division.

One more stat that bites: Scott Parker has never won in eight London away games as a manager — five defeats, three draws. Another trip to the capital looks ugly on paper.

Football Prediction Crystal Palace vs Burnley

Crystal Palace to win

Even if Selhurst Park hasn’t been an easy place for Palace lately, the record against bottom-half teams and their recent dominance over Burnley tip this way.

Up against a side low on confidence and awful away from home, Palace should have enough to nick it without dazzling. Expect a narrow win, and another London nightmare for Scott Parker may stretch on.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, not a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable: a red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the whole script flips.
  • Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it still isn’t. Yes — you can lose. It’s inevitable, at some point.
  • Be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — that rarely ends well.
  • Betting should be a pastime, not a job or income source. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, take a break. If needed, get help from a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility sits with you. Reading our content means you accept the risk is real and won’t vanish, even with the best analysis.
  • Important reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must follow your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
